Beach Holiday in Zanzibar 4 Days Itinerary – Zanzibar lies between 4 degrees south and 6 degrees south of equator. The word ‘’ Zanzibar “is derived from the old form “Zenjbar” which meant the Eastern Coast of Africa. It is probably a Persian word “ Zenj or Zanj “ means black and “ Bar “ means the land. These Persian settlers also left their mark upon the natives of the region, for these was certain amount of intermarrying.

Zanzibar is the Archipelago in Indian Ocean and was the political and economic key to East Africa, which comprises two main islands, Unguja and Pemba with small habitable ones. Unguja is the main one with the Head of the State and named as Zanzibar is about 85 Kilometres long and 39 Kilometres wide.

Pemba is 72 Kilometres long and 25 Kilometres wide. The highest point of Zanzibar is 120 metres above the sea level.
The capital of Zanzibar, located on island of Unguja as Zanzibar Town and it is cultural and historic Swahili City State and it is also located about 36 kms off the coast of mainland Tanzania.

Until 2002 Zanzibar had population of about 981, 754. Since the population growth is running about 3 % every year, it is now probably 1.2 million habitats in Zanzibar. Most of these habitats are practicing Islam of about 90 %, the rest are Christians and some Hindus.

Zanzibar is one of the cosmopolitan islands with ethnic background to Indian Ocean. Majorities are Africans and some coloured, Indians, and few Chinese. Kiswahili is widely spoken to whole Zanzibar’s and English is the second one but not spoken to every body. Zanzibar has a tropical climate with seasonal variation.

December – March is hot and humid.
April – mid of June is wet because of long rain.
July – August is dry and breezy
October – November is the short rain season.

Day 1: Stone Town Zanzibar
You will be transferred from Zanzibar International Airport to the Zanzibar Serena Inn, a scenic drive of approximately 45 minutes, giving you the opportunity to get a feel for this enchanting island. After check in you have the option of enjoying a fabulous seafood lunch before spending the afternoon soaking up the sun and adjusting to the relaxed pace of life on the coast.
You may want to explore the fascinating network of cobbled streets which make up Stone Town and get a feel for local life on the island.

Day 2: Stone Town Zanzibar

Today why not go out on an Island Spice tour before returning to the hotel for lunch, and an afternoon of relaxing on the beach or snorkeling in the crystal blue waters.
Zanzibar is famous for its trade in spices. For centuries the Arabs sailed with the Monsoon winds from Oman. The two main islands, Unguja (normally known as Zanzibar Island) and Pemba, provided an ideal base for the Omani Arabs, being relatively small, and therefore fairly easy to defend.  Your guides on the tour are experts on the subject so be sure to ask questions.

Day 3: Stone Town Zanzibar
The waters around Zanzibar are teaming with marine life and today you can hop on a boat and go on the lookout for dolphins.  If you’re lucky you maybe even have the chance to swim with them.
As tonight is your last night you can ask the hotel to plan a special dinner for you, perhaps at one of the rooftop restaurants from where you will be able to take full advantage of the spectacular views over the sea and enjoy the cool coastal breeze.

Day 4: Walking tour to Lake Eyasi Visit Local tribes Tindiga/Hadzabe and Bushman
Lake Eyasi is just about an hour drive south-west of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Lake Eyasi is a mildly alkaline lake about 55km long; to the north-east you can see the Ngorongoro Highlands and to the north are the plains of the Serengeti; around 150 years ago when the warlike Masai tribes invaded Ngorongoro and Serengeti, the Datoga and other indigenous Bushmen lived there were driven south. Many of these groups founded the Lake Eyasi area their home.
Along the shores of the lake are Acacia forests which are home to a high diversity of wildlife including leopard and lion. There is several good quality, private campsites are located in the forest clearings by the lake. Each provides a grassy pitch, shower and toilet facilities constructed mainly from local materials.
Lake Eyasi’s principal source of water is the Sibiti River, which enters the southwestern end. The river may continue to flow all year round in wetter years and all the other inflows disappear in the dry season.
Seasonal variations in the lake are large even though the northwestern shore is constrained by the Serengeti Plateau. During the dry season the lake can almost entirely disappear. The lake is also a seasonal stop for migrating flamingos.
Over 100 years ago when the stronger Masai tribes moved into the Ngorongoro and Serengeti, the Datoga and other indigenous bushmen lived there were pushed south. Many made Lake Eyasi and its surrounding bush and forests their home.
Dinner and overnight at Tindiga Tented Camp: Full board.

Ngorongoro is a special place in that it is a Conservation Area, not a National Park; this means that the whole area is managed for both the animals and the local Masai people who graze their cattle alongside the indigenous wildlife. During the drive in Ngorongoro we have a chance to glimpse something of the Masai way of life. After stopping at the entrance gate, where there is a chance to learn more about this fascinating volcanic landscape, we will drive around the rim of the Crater itself, and from here we can look down and see the herd of wildebeest or buffalos. Finally we descend into the crater. The crater walls provide a natural sanctuary for the animals, which means there is plenty to see: lions, elephants, buffalo, rhino and leopard (if you are lucky). The only animal you won’t see in here is a giraffe, whose long legs are unable to cope with the steeps sides of the crater. In the late afternoon we travel just inside of Ngorongoro Conservation Area to our special lodge .
Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge: Full board.

13 Day Tour to Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar

13 Day Tour to Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar

13 Day Tour to Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar starting with Rongai Route 7 Day and 6 days safari to Zanzibar, rongai is the 7 days route begins at the northern side of Kilimanjaro. We walk through a true wilderness area towards the toothed Mawenzi Peak. The Rongai route is a steady ascent, and is favorite by those with little experience.

13 Day Tour to Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar

Day 1: Arrival day in Marangu
Clients flying into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) early today we recommend a private transfer to Marangu where the rest of the day is at leisure.
We stay at the Kilimanjaro Mountain Resortwhich is beautifully located on the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro and is a perfect place to prepare for your adventure.
We will gather in the evening for a pre-climb briefing and an equipment check. We will also confirm you have the appropriate mandatory medical coverage and travel insurance.
Dinner and overnight stay at: Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort: Full board.

Day2: Rongai One Camp (2,600 m); 3-4 hours walking.
After completing the necessary registration formalities at Marangu National Park gate, we transfer by Landrover to Rongai. The climb begins from Nale Moru (1,950 m) on a small path that wind through fields of maize and potatoes before entering pine forest. The track then starts to climb consistently, but gently through attractive forest that shelters a variety of wildlife, including the beautiful Kilimanjaro Colobus monkey. These monkeys are black with a long ‘cape’ of white hair and a flowing white tail. The forest begins to thin out and the first camp is at the edge of the moorland zone, Rongai One Camp (2,600 m) with extensive views over the Kenyan
plains.

Day3: Second Cave’ (3,450 m); 3-4 hours walking.
This is only a morning walk up to the campsite at ‘Second Cave’ (3,450 m). The walk is a steady ascent with superb views of Kibo and the Eastern icefields on the crater rim. The afternoon can be spent enjoying the view over the Kenyan plains or doing a short acclimatisation walk up towards Third Cave.

Day4: Kikelewa Caves (3.600 m); 3-4 hours walking.
We now leave the main trail and strike out across the moorland on a smaller path towards the jagged peaks of Mawenzi. Our campsite is in a sheltered valley with giant senecios near Kikelewa Caves (3.600 m).  After lunch, there is time to explore the valley or to rest.

Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn (4,330m); 3-4 hours walking.
A short but steep climb is rewarded by superb allround views and a tangible sense of wilderness. We leave vegetation behind shortly before reaching the next camp atMawenzi Tarn (4,330m), spectacularly situated in a cirque directly beneath the towering spires of Mawenzi. The afternoon will be free to rest or explore the surrounding area as an aid to acclimatisation.

Day 6: Kibo campsite (4,700m); 5-6 hours walking.
We cross the lunar desert of the ‘Saddle’ between Mawenzi and Kibo to reach Kibo campsite (4,700m) at the bottom of the Kibo crater wall. The remainder of the day is spent resting in preparation for the final ascent before a very early night.

Day 7: Horombo Hut (3,720 m); 11-15 hours walking.
We will start the final, and by far the steepest and most demanding, part of the climb by torchlight around 1 a.m. We plod very slowly in the darkness on a switchback trail through loose volcanic scree to reach the crater rim at Gillman’s Point (5,685 m) We will rest there for a short time to enjoy the spectacular sunrise over Mawenzi. Those who are still feeling strong can make the three hour round trip to Uhuru Peak (5,896 m), passing close to the spectacular glaciers and ice cliffs that still occupy most of the summit area. The descent to Kibo (4,700 m) is surprisingly fast and, after some refreshment, we continue the descent to reach our final campsite at Horombo (3,720 m).

Day 8: Marangu gate (1,830 m); 5-6 hours walking.
A steady descent takes us down through moorland to Mandara Hut (2,700m), the first stopping place at the Marangu route. We then continue descending through lovely lush forest on a good path to the National Park gate at Marangu (1,830 m).

Day 9: Depart to Zanzibar:
Zanzibar is one of the cosmopolitan islands with ethnic background to Indian Ocean. Majorities are Africans and some coloured, Indians, and few Chinese. Kiswahili is widely spoken to whole Zanzibar’s and English is the second one but not spoken to every body. Zanzibar has a tropical climate with seasonal variation.
December – March is hot and humid.
April – mid of June is wet because of long rain.
July – August is dry and breezy
October – November is the short rain season.

Zanzibar Tour and Safari includes
Spice Tour, City Tour, Prison Island Tour, Jozani Forest Tour, Dolphin Tour, and Sunset Cruising, special cultural tours to North Coast, Safari Blue & Diving Package, and Honeymoon Package etc. Zanzibar, known also as Spice Island, is home to many spice plantations.

Day 10: Stone Town Zanzibar
You will be transferred from Zanzibar International Airport to the Zanzibar Serena Inn, a scenic drive of approximately 45 minutes, giving you the opportunity to get a feel for this enchanting island. After check in you have the option of enjoying a fabulous seafood lunch before spending the afternoon soaking up the sun and adjusting to the relaxed pace of life on the coast.
You may want to explore the fascinating network of cobbled streets which make up Stone Town and get a feel for local life on the island.

Day 11: Stone Town Zanzibar
Whilst it would be tempting to spend one’s days relaxing around the swimming pool at Zanzibar Serena Inn, listening to the calming sounds of the ocean, Stone Town has so much else to offer!

Day 12: Stone Town Zanzibar
The waters around Zanzibar are teaming with marine life and today you can hop on a boat and go on the lookout for dolphins.  If you’re lucky you maybe even have the chance to swim with them.
As tonight is your last night you can ask the hotel to plan a special dinner for you, perhaps at one of the rooftop restaurants from where you will be able to take full advantage of the spectacular views over the sea and enjoy the cool coastal breeze.

Day 13: Depart
Today you will be transferred back to Zanzibar International Airport in time for your onward travel
